Metal hammock stands aren't as elegant and sturdy as wood hammock stands, but the metal stands are more popular. Metal hammock stands are very durable and affordable. The majority of metal hammock stands only fit the hammocks with spreader bars.
Hammock Stands for Hammocks with and without Spreader bars
There are two main type of hammocks - those with spreader bars and those without. The majority of the time you cannot switch these two kinds in between hammock stands. Reason being is because the hammock without spreader bars must be set up higher either on a stand or a tree with hanging hardware. Hammocks with spreader bars do not need to be hung that high or you would have a rough time getting in, especially if you have small children.

Portable hammock stands are great for picnics, a family get together or a trip to the beach.
Wood Hammocks Stands
The majority of the wood hammock stands are more durable than other types of stands. Reason being they are made of several layers of cypress wood. If you would like to keep your wood hammock stand looking brand new, use wood treatment or water propellant. If left untreated, it will turn to a silvery gray.
